At Sacred Warmth, we believe in the power of clothing to bring comfort, warmth and joy to people’s lives.That’s why we are proud to partner with Kantaya, a non-profit organization that provides quality education and holistic development for children living in impoverished communities in Peru.
Kantaya was founded in 2007 by Virginia García, a former marketing executive who decided to dedicate her life to helping children in Ventanilla, one of the poorest districts in Lima. She started by teaching 15 children in a small room, and today, Kantaya has grown to serve over 300 children and their families through various programs, such as:
- A school that offers free education from kindergarten to sixth grade, with a focus on developing creativity, critical thinking, self-esteem and leadership skills.
- A library that provides access to books, computers, internet and other learning resources.
- A nutrition program that ensures that every child receives a healthy breakfast and lunch every day.
- A health program that offers medical and dental check-ups, vaccinations and hygiene workshops.
- A family program that involves parents and guardians in the education process and offers them workshops on topics such as parenting, domestic violence, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
- A cultural program that exposes children to different forms of art, music, dance and sports, and encourages them to express themselves and celebrate their identity.
By supporting Kantaya, we at Sacred Warmth hope to make a positive difference in the lives of these children and their communities. We believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating a brighter future for Peru. We also share Kantaya Charity’s vision of fostering a culture of love, respect and solidarity among people.
That’s why we donate a percentage of our sales to Kantaya Charity, and also collaborate with them on special projects, such as:
- Designing and producing alpaca wool ponchos with traditional symbols and colourful accents that reflect the rich and diverse heritage of Peru. These ponchos are sold on our website and in our stores, and a portion of the proceeds goes to Kantaya.
- Organizing and sponsoring cultural events, such as concerts, festivals and exhibitions, that showcase the talents and achievements of the children and raise awareness and funds for Kantaya.
- Volunteering and visiting the school and the community in Ventanilla, and interacting with the children and their families, and learning from their experiences and perspectives.
